5 Indian Superfoods To Boost Your Immunity and Well Being

India has always been on top when it comes to 'super-foods.' As we all got conscious of the importance of good health, many started investing in costly superfluous multivitamin medications. These tablets may be giving expected results but if continue taking them for a long time, they might show an adverse effect on our body.

Instead, we should concentrate on consuming foods that can keep us healthy in order to keep ourselves fit naturally.

And when I talk about super-food, it is a must to mention that India has emerged as one of the top countries that grow many of the super-food which have tremendous health benefits.

Recently, many western countries have not just recognized these but started adding these foods in their daily diet. 

1. Ghee


Desi ghee is a type of clarified butter that is used not only in dishes but also in Ayurveda and herbal medicines. Ayurveda considers ghee as the "first and the most central of all foods." Ghee is made from two ways, one, from Dairy milk and second, from vegetable oil.  Ghee has butter 's strong essence; the last product of a long, slow, careful clarification cycle that eliminates all the moisture, milk solids, and impurities.
Nutritional research has found out that consuming one spoon of ghee daily benefits in making immunity strong, improves eyesight, constipation, and strengthens bone. Many old age women serve ghee in the diet to pregnant women to provide nourishment and nutrients to the baby and the mother.
Ayurveda's advice has inspired many people to turn to Desi ghee and has seen enormous health benefits. Ghee contains predominantly saturated fatty acids and is rich in vitamins A, E, and K2. This is also rich in Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) and Butyrate with good health benefits. Consuming it in moderation can be beneficial.
Ghee has MUFA (monounsaturated fatty acids), which is stronger than PUFA (polyunsaturated fatty acid) found in oils such as corn, sunflower, oils from cotton, etc. Ghee is formed from a short chain of fatty acids that can be efficiently digested. This nature helps break the fat, too. Therefore Desi ghee could be a more sensible choice than these oils.

2. Turmeric


Turmeric is considered as the most effective nutritional supplement. Many studies have proven that it has significant benefits for the brain and body. Turmeric is used as a spice and medicinal herb for more than thousands of years in India.
Almost every Indian household use turmeric in their daily cooking. It is being added to curry, milk, sweet dish, and kadha. Turmeric not only enhances the taste but also increases the nutritional value of food.
Turmeric contains the most active compound called "curcumin" and it has a potent antibacterial and antioxidant that helps to prevent heart disease, cancer, improves depression and arthritis. 

Consuming Turmeric with one spoon of ghee can help to relief from dry cough. Same way, adding turmeric to the boiled milk can help to get rid of respiratory tract infection.
Adding Turmeric in the daily diet can help to keep away the problems related to digestion, skin and helps in purifying blood, remove toxins from the body, treat stomach ulcers, and stabilizes blood sugar levels.

3. Coconut oil

In many states of India, it is normal to find coconut at every house. Coconut is not just used to make curry but it is used for multiple purposes. 
In recent years, coconut oil has grown in popularity,  It is said to be a body-friendly and amid claims that it can do everything from supporting weight loss to slowing Alzheimer's diseases. For example - Coconut oil can lower obesity levels in the body and also helps in preserving insulin resistance - issues that often lead to type two diabetes, healthy skin, preventing liver disease, reducing stress, and many more.
Coconut oil is enriched in certain saturated fats. Compared with most other dietary fats these fats have different effects on the body.
It sums up pretty much what the humble coconut does. You can eat it or you can use it as cooking oil or, you can use it for your hair and body as a moisturizer, there really are no limits on what coconut oil can do.

4. Amla


Amla is also known as Indian Gooseberries. Amla as medicine is cooling, astringent, digestive, laxative, stomachic, and aphrodisiac.

In India, Amla is added regularly to diet. It is treated as an alternative to lemon and tamarind. In Sanskrit, Amla means mother. In Ayurveda, the use of Amla is tremendous. It is mainly used in preparing Chavanprasha.

Researchers have found that Amla is the most powerful fruit with high antioxidants than any other fruit.
Amla is known as the best source for vitamin C. It contains 20 times as much vitamin C as it does an orange. It also contains tannin, when dried or baked which prevents loss of vitamin C.

Vitamin C is a must for healing and boost immunity hence consuming Amla regularly can help our body to boost immunity. Amla is helpful in treating health problems like diabetes, cancer, ulcers, anemia, protects against DNA damage, slowing cell aging, and many more health benefits.

5. Banana


Fruits are amazing. But if there is first among the fruits that are most loved by kids as well as by adults is banana. Banana is packed with all the nutrients, fiber, and a large number of antioxidants you need for a quick recharge. Banana helps to burn fat and reduces cholesterol.
Banana is the only food that can help for both weight gain and weight loss. For weight loss, have it on empty stomach in the morning with black pepper on it. 
Did you know that the banana peel is rich in calcium? So next time when you'll be consuming banana do eat the white skin of its peel. People in South India add the stem of banana in Sambhar and it exactly tastes like potatoes.

Adding them to diet and consuming regularly can create positive health effects. These foods are non-allergic, cheap, and are easily available in stores.
